NUI’s Pre-K students spend half of their day in a modified Montessori program in English and half of their day in an Arabic program. In the modified Montessori class, the students have circle time based on a theme of the week and exercises that give them hands-on experiences in the areas of practical life, sensorial development, language, math, science, geography, and art. In the Arabic class, the students also have a circle time and exercises that help them learn the Arabic letters and their sounds, some basic vocabulary words, and numbers in Arabic. They also memorize some short chapters of the Qur’an and some simple supplications. The Pre-K program also includes outdoor play (weather permitting) and naptime.
